Today, I bought a box of bedding called "Small Pet Eco-Bedding" to try out. It's only shavings of crinkled recycled paper, I think. It's supposed to be safe for the gerbils and completely dust-free, of course. I took out some of the Care Fresh and substituted it with this new bedding. I left Nippy's nest alone. Hopefully, my little gerbil's nose problem will clear up. The little boy gerbil's (will be 6 weeks old on Tuesday) red nose appears to be improving, but the little girl gerbil's red nose was worse than the boy's nose. If things don't keep improving as I keep doing this replacement thing, I'll take the little girl gerbil (who will be 6 weeks old on Tuesday) to the vet. Hard to believe that the new litter arrived only 4 days ago! I feel like we've had them forever. We haven't handled them except for touching them once or twice to make sure they're still alive after they've been buried under all of that bedding! In fact, I went to check them tonight and as I was digging gently to find the new babies, my two older girl gerbils suddenly stuck their heads up and out from the same spot! It was very cute. They're doing a great job of helping the mom keep the new pups warm. Will the dad and son forget the mom, older pups, and new pups even if they can still see them since their aquariums are side-by-side? -Jean
