As long, as they have plenty of bedding to burrow in to keep warm I would think that the gerbil would be just fine. Doubly so, if he/she has another nestmate to cuddle up to in the night. Just make sure they have enough wood shavings (or substrate) to make a deep burrow. If you're really concerned (presuming they're in an aquarium) you could put a desk lamp next to the aquarium and tilt it to angle to put some light against one end of the glass. This would allow them to have some residual heat. Frankly, I think the gerbil will be just fine.
