I am Agnes from Hungary, Europe as a new reader of the list.
We've got 8 months old brother and sister gerbils who've got
their first litter. They are living in 2 cages opened to each other.
There were born 7 pups last Sunday.
Everything went OK till a pocket-lamp fell onto the daddy. He
was only sleeping without eating. For 3 days he got B1
injection and seemed to be active again.
Yesterday came a tragedy, when all pups were hurt so
seriously, that we lost 4 of them.
Because of this we separated the cages, but left them closed
to each other.
Don't know why, the male fell in deep sleep, his breathing is
very slow and the he is very cold.
Now he is lying in a tank placed on the gas-convector to keep
him warm.
Besides going to the vet in the morning does anybody have got
idea what could happen and should do?
