Hi everyone,

Are peas, lentils, and sesame seeds okay to feed to gerbils? Uncooked ones, I mean.
I was at the grocery store's bulk food section today to buy some grains and seeds
to mix my own gerbil food. There were all sorts of peas and lentils, i.e. split
green peas, red lentils, etc etc etc. I know uncooked beans are a no-no for them.
If they are okay, then can they be for a regular diet or just as treats? Which
types are best?

I also saw something called vegetable orzo. Do you know what that is? It looks
like colorful rice pieces.

What about corn? The only one I could find was the ones for popcorn. They look a
little different from the corn in prepackaged gerbil food. They're smaller and
rounder, and looks dryer to me. If they're not suitable, where can I find corn like
those in pet food?

Thanks,
Amy
