Thanks for the email with your experiences. It's nice to hear
first-hand accounts of usage (as well as bugs... :). Here are my
thoughts:

The startup time has been fairly constant with me over the past years,
so this may just be "the way it is" on your build....if you have any
more input on the startup time (only does it with board x, etc), please
let us know.

After digging into this problem, this apparently has been a longstanding
oversight in our parser. The reference board files combine several
RS274X command "blocks" into a single line in the file. After looking
at the spec, this is clearly allowed. I've pushed the necessary fixes
to git, so feel free to try it again. The boards come in correctly on
my machine now. The zoom problem was due to gerbv bringing the boards
in way too large, BTW...so no fix was necessary there.

I think this is a problem with the gtk library. I know they recently
switched from gnome-vfs to gfile (or something like that)... what
version gtk is it using on your machine?
