I was under the impression that it had already been accepted that we were not going to use Geronimo. I am quite happy with Geronimo if it is an option especially after reading some of the arguments.
There could be several high level goals for the project. (We need such goals agreed so we can make design decisions to achieve our desired trade-offs.) Performance is a good high level goal and it can be defined to encompass stability, scalability, and transaction response time. In any case we need a few compatible goals not just one.
