Perhaps we should have done so, and attempted to reach a consensus before
voting.
Perhaps we should be having a vote on a shortlist of alternative names,
which would be inherently less biased.
Perhaps whoever picked "geronimo" could have thought about this issue.

But none of those things are happening and this looks my last chance to
influence people.
I didn't start this, but I do have a right to express my opinion, or would
you have me just be quiet and keep my subversive liberal attitudes to
myself in case I actually have a valid point of view?
