Patch Set 2: I am all for avoiding complex merges in the history, but don't agree here. a) I would have had to reconfigure the run job to see a history of multiple runs. b) We hardly ever revert anything, we can manage a revert every now and then. c) it doesn't hurt to see in the history that a given patch (that was well formed) turned out to not help.
