Renaming it to .aac made no difference...Winamp still refuses it
Podcast works fine,I can't save it (No Save Target option) but what the
heck, I can listen in real time OK
I've saved a shortcut to the page for future use.

rider... I just associatrd .aac files with *Quicktime*
This works a treat so I guess *Winamp* is missing a codec.

Maybe it is actually an aac file?
so you could try renaming it to .aac
I had to do this for a while... but files are now real mp3s with no
changes from me.
Alternatively, it is available as an mp3 podcast download here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/digitalp
