Simon, my feeling on this is if you were getting stream restarts you would know about it. I certainly did, that's why I changed to rtmpdump, but this was downloading 'recorded' programs, not live streams. I am not sure whether the live streams use swfVfy verification. Looks like they don't?

I've now been able to try this with a recorded program (Performance on 3)
and I was able to listen for over 2 hours without any sign of a stream
restart. When a stream restart happens, do you hear a gap in the audio,
see an error message, or both?
