Hi shevek
I think there's more to it than that.

In my opinion, ffmpeg handles aac/m4a files in a way that
isn't friendly with some players.

It's not just the BBC files either.
When I convert other files to m4a using ffmpeg like this:-
ffmpeg -i foo -acodec libfaac foo.m4a

they won't play in the Shuffle until I've modified them using EASYTag.
