I can't help with the problem but I can confirm that Dr Who Ep 2 is
available as HD.
I have had this problem lots but it went away when I installed the
latest get_iplayer perl script. I am using Vista and the get_iplayer
technique is remarkably stable.

thanks jonathan
take the new dr who series
I managed to download ep 1 in HD
ep 2 starts downloading but crashes after a minute or two
it is available in hd on the bbc player
what is the logic?
First check and see if HD is offered for that episode because if it isn't
there will be an error message and you will not be able to download
something that isn't there. That happens to me quite a bit.

get_iplayer --subtitles --get160
--modes=flashhd,flashvhigh,flashhigh,,flashstd --force
stalls and leads to " stream does not start with requsted frame ignoring
data" endlessly
but
get_iplayer --subtitles --get
160 --modes=flashhigh,,flashstd --force
is ok
windows xp
i use a vpn connection
in other words impossible to download high def?
why is that?
