You'd have to ask the person who replied. Mail clients have *two* repliy buttons; one for a private reply and another for a public reply (or 'group reply' or 'reply to all'). When replying, the individual *chooses* which one to use. There are some who suggest that we should hack things so that when users *ask* for a *personal* reply, the list message subverts their mailer and tricks it into actually replying in *public* instead. This list will never do that. It's entirely stupid.
