Looking at the moderation queue, the latest trapped message from you is Jan 22nd, with no subject. It was trapped for manual moderation because it was HTML, not plain text as is required by the list. You should have got an automatic response indicating that it was trapped, with the rather unhelpful reason "Message has a suspicious header". My logs suggest that it was sent, and accepted by Google's mail servers — so if you didn't get it, that would be an issue on the Google side. Here's my logs, showing the incoming message and the immediate response: 2012-01-22 06:46:48 +0000 1RorCQ-00048J-VT <= [email protected] H=mail-wi0-f177.google.com [209.85.212.177] P=esmtps X=TLSv1:RC4-SHA:128 S=19224 id=CACns58VEsrgqzbZR6DC93kuwi38eWZ-fqkJ=G0g2C2LoMQ=v...@mail.gmail.com 2012-01-22 06:46:48 +0000 1RorCQ-00048J-VT => get_iplayer <[email protected]> R=mailman_here_router T=mailman_transport 2012-01-22 06:46:48 +0000 1RorCQ-00048J-VT Completed 2012-01-22 06:46:51 +0000 1RorCV-00048X-B0 <= [email protected] H=localhost (merlin.infradead.org) [::1] P=esmtp S=1311 [email protected] 2012-01-22 06:46:52 +0000 1RorCV-00048X-B0 => [email protected] R=lookuphost T=verp_smtp H=gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com [209.85.225.26] X=TLSv1:RC4-SHA:128 C="250 2.0.0 OK 1327214812 t9si1404633icu.13" 2012-01-22 06:46:52 +0000 1RorCV-00048X-B0 Completed If you didn't get that response, then the above logs should have all the information that Google would need to trace it and work out why they lost it. The last *accepted* message from you was on Tuesday, which I see in my inbox. The logs on the primary mail host don't seem to show any other messages from you reaching it between then and now. Can you give more details of the messages that seem to have been lost? > I have noticed that the mailing list website states that certain > messages have had their viewing suppressed by the Project Administrator. > Does anyone know why this happens? There are some filters which help to improve the signal:noise ratio. Certain messages are trapped for moderation by the list admins. These include all HTML, and anything with suspicious threading headers — for example being marked as a reply when it doesn't have 'Re:' in the subject, or vice versa. Theoretically, the list admins occasionally look through and approve (or mostly reject) the messages with a more coherent explanation and often a reference to http://david.woodhou.se/email.html > I have also noticed that the count of messages for a day is often not > the same as the number of messages displayed, even when I have changed > the view to 100 messages.
