Are they meant to be 2 different options, or is it intended that one option
has two effects?

The latter. The two effects are sort of coupled: --long adds "desc" and "episode" to the search fields and adds "timeadded" (relative) and "desc" to the results display. The listing of --long in two categories of the help text was fudged - only one option is used - which seems slightly goofy since --long always changes search behaviour and results formatting simultaneously. Feel free to make it more intelligible.
