I don't think that's necessary. You should have been able to tell from the subject line, even before your addition to it, that this thread wasn't likely to include any perl hacking. I'm surprised that anyone who doesn't care is still reading this thread at all. This is one of the reasons *why* we insist on correct threading, after all. People occasionally asking for instructions on how to use email 'properly' is one of the prices we pay for actually enforcing some semblance of netiquette. On most lists I run, the tradeoff of that enforcement is a clear win for the signal:noise ratio; I'm not entirely convinced about this particular list but I haven't yet been convinced to let it go to the dogs. So Mable Syrup asking for help is fair enough, and I was happy to provide an answer. The message had a clear and correct subject line, which was perfectly sufficient for you to identify whether you might have been interested in it. And once the 'I was offended' emotional incontinence started, that crap had to be shut down forcibly in case someone actually got the impression that it was tolerable on this list.
