I've just read DinkyPumpkin's reply and he (if he is a he) said that that's
not needed.  I was sure it was, but can't replicate my earlier experiment.
There's no need for the backslash.

I think what I've found confusing in the past is that I don't seem to be
able to repeat a search that found lots of hits with more specific search
arguments to narrow things down and always find what I want.  For example
with search argument: ^heresy: series 7

I find the matching line:

Heresy: Series 7 - Episode 1, BBC Radio 4, Comedy,Radio, 4 days 0 hours ag
o - The panellists are comedian Rufus Hound, artist Grayson Perry and Julia
Hartley-Brewer.

But if use search argument: ^heresy: series 7 - episode 1

I find nothing.  It's this sort of thing that made me start using part words
and ".*" to match unspecified numbers of arbitrary characters.  This works:

   ^heresy: series 7.*episode 1
