A week or so back I had to use the modes=wma option but since updating
to the latest Head version from
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dinkypumpkin/get_iplayer/master/get_iplayer
it's happily downloading all the 6music radio files I need,
So, my advice is simply to ensure you have the very latest version of
GiP then happiness should return (YMMV)

Hmm - well I read the bug-report at the link and the also found
GitHead page but frankly it makes no sense to me at all.
Perhaps someone could kindly explain in simple terms exactly what we
need to do to get these BBC 2 / 6 programmes please.
BTW I am not a beginner at computing having been a professional
programmer for over 30+ years. Jut the jargon of Git, Pearl, CGI,
whatever is way over my head.

Change your mode to wma:
--mode=wma
and it will download. This means that for some reason, the flashaacstd
and flashaaclow copies are not available but that a wma is.
I've just tried it from the Linux Terminal and got the same error as
you
but if I add the modes switch then it works.
