There was a stop-gap patch committed (and then reverted)
in the develop branch that makes use of .JSON playlists,
https://github.com/get-iplayer/get_iplayer/commit/e7bfcf5
but, as noted in the commit log, is far from an optimal solution...
If the beeb completely switch off non-Nitro feeds,
then something must be "baked" to use those instead...
