So I have no idea if/when I'd get any answers. Chances are, by then the problem will have mysteriously 'fixed itself' again! IIRC 'missing segments' have been a problem in the past for periods. BTW I suspect this they happen for some modes and not others. And it has been reported on usenet that they can cause the resolution to abruptly change downwards for the rest of a fetched item. But as yet, I've not seen the problem. So only have what others report to go on. Should add for clarity that I've still been using 'old' versions of gip, though, as I've not yet got around to getting and trying 3.00.
