Note that I have never used BigaSoft Video Downloader, so am just guessing here. I assume the downloader you are using supports multithreaded downloads, i.e., downloading segments in parallel. As far as I know, GiP only uses one thread, or if multiple, the implementation is quite slow. Youtube-dl suffers from the same issue, but streamlink does not given the right commands: https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink/issues/7#issuecomment-248366931
