for example with gmsh:

$ python demo_crack.py
$ gmsh crack.pos

uncheck "mesh 0", "V" and "Von Mises" for simple viewing

then:

0) tools->options
1) select "view [2]"
2) go to: Aspect
3) set "vector display" as "Displacement"
and
4) adjusts "Displacement factor" as you wish

is this what you need?
