Hi Bernd, for large sliding contact you can use the integral contact brick with raytracing which is fully implemented and should actually be superior to nodal formulations and formulations with projection. You can find an example of how to use the brick in:

The integral ones also support MPI for parallel runs. I have used them for solving many different problems with contact.
