Dear Oladayo Eluyefa,

4th order elliptical problems require basically C^1 finite element methods such
as Argyris, HCT or FVS elements. You can see an example of use in the matlab
demo program interface/tests/matlab/demo_bilaplacian.m.

It is possible also in that context to use lower order finite element methods
together with interior penalty methods (see for instance the work of Susanne C.
Brenner and Li-Yeng Sung, C0 Interior Penalty Methods for Fourth Order Elliptic
Boundary Value Problems on Polygonal Domains, Journal of Scientific Computing,
22-23 : 2005, pp83-118.) But there is not such an implementation in Getfem for
the moment.

Best regards,

Yves

Subject: [Getfem-users] 4th order 2D problem

I am having a hard time figuring out exactly what finite element methods (bases
functions) fems, and integration technique would be appropriate for a 4th order
2D elliptical inverse problem.
