Aha - that thread has been updated now. The problem is when you try to use your merchant account to buy something from yourself. (Google Checkout used to render an error page that explains the problem.) I have updated getpaid.googlecheckout notes to remind the user to create a separate buyer account. And added in more details about the merchant configuration based on your experience of trying that configuration. Thanks!
