By the way, I'm at PyCon and planning to do some sprinting on getpaid as well Mon-Thurs, though I'm not sure whether I'll make all the dates. I'm guessing that's true for others too, but even if we get a couple quality days in, it'd be great.
On the students topic, I'm already working with a group of 5 students from UIC (University of Illinois, Chicago campus) on a Plone project. They're creating custom types, workflows, skin/templates.
They're not doing a lot of straight-up Python coding, but I can see if they'd be interested. They're already getting college credits in their project class for this effort (building a real-world site/app for a client), but I think that a couple of them have clicked with Plone a bit and it'd be great to give them something to continue with.
Potential issue: they might all be graduating this May and might not need credits or officially still be enrolled in school. Do you know if that would disqualify them from GSOC participation?
If you can check on that detail, I'll check on their availability and interest and would like to serve in a capacity to help mentor them, along with the getpaid gurus that have already volunteered.
Feel free to contact me for more details, but we may have some good candidates here.
