Testing processor....

Hello Everyone. I'm working on a event management system at the moment. I'm using 'test processor' to and have a list of 'test' CC numbers (if anybody needs them just ask ) with which to do so.   When my client decides on a merchant provider, I'll write the relevant module then. Question: What does the 'Test Processor' tell me essentially? viz.: my credit card no/date/ etc is in a valid format for Credit Card N my credit card no/date/ etc is in a valid format for Credit Card N +  round trip processing of same to/from Visa / Amex etc was successful None of the above Thanks.
