Do you have the "Allow Anonymous Checkout" option set? Go to http://yoursite/@@manage-getpaid-payment-options to verify. * (A) When it is NOT set, your cart should be retained once you log in (and it should require you to log in when you start checking out). * (B) When it is set, it should never ask you to log in to checkout. However, in this case, the shopping cart contents would not be retained if you logged in before checking out, because the anonymous user's cart is distinct from every other user's cart (and from every other anonymous user's cart in a different session).
The fact that it asks you to log in when you click on checkout might indicate some other problem if (B) is your situation.
