I'm pretty sure Shark is Apple proprietary developer
code, but I imagine the fine folks at Gnu or elsewhere
in the open source world have some kind of profiling
software that offers similar functionality. I haven't
worked with it before, though, so unfortunately I have
no pointers to offer you, other than to suggest
looking up "profiler" or "profile" in your favorite
open source search engine.
