Ther original poster is running a Macintosh and the code provided below does not works (as far as I can see) under Macintosh.

BUT, Steve is right, this code works very fine under Windows (XP SP2).

If someone have a work-around for MACINTOSH, and want to share it ???

Did you try ?

  If HTTPSocket.isConnected Then
    // Do the job here
  Else
    MsgBox "Sorry, you are not connected and I do not know why..."
  End If

SocketCore Class is an ancestor of HTTPSocket and have isConnected, so HTTPSocket certainly have inherited that (I hope so).

The problem is my Mac is connected through a router to the Freebox (DSL modem), so HTTPSocket.isConnected checks the router running status, not the DSL availability, which is what I want to check without hanging the method for minutes...

(Emile, tu as une FreeBox ?)
