No I don't think so because I did exactly as you described and it works for me and brings up the DSN window. I don't know whats going on for you. OSX or Win, can you open your DSN admin window normally? In any case, you could create the DSN normally and then build a connection string or point to the DSN in the above code and then just open the db using the GetFolderItem function.
