Mac Image shadow

Is it normal for an image in a canvas to have a shadow or a ghost like 
effect when viewed on the remote Mac debugger? I have a black image with 
essentially a duplicate of itself for the mask. I tried both bmp and pict 
and they are the same. Is this normal and a job for Tinker Tool, or is it me 
doing something wrong?
