I am working in XP. I tried to fake the extension but that is no good. True that Word is defaulted to open it up but when the user goes back to save it after making modifications in Word, it defaults to a text file and the user may not notice that the extension and type of file has changed, so this is not a viable solution. I need to be able to write a Word formatted document in the easiest way from within my REALbasic application.....????

Did you try FolderItem.SaveStyledEditField EditField1 ?
[It saves the Styled EditField data in a true RTF text file _ON WINDOWS_. Only unknow thing - by me - is the situation once loaded in Word and you made modifications]

HTH,

Emile
