Use a dictionary.
dim v as string
dim d as new dictionary
dim s as statictext
d.value("a")=StaticText1
d.value("b")=StaticText2
now you can assign
v="a"
or
v="b"
and access it indirect using the dictionary.
s=d.value(v)
