Yes, from CellBackGroundPaint you can write either g.TextHeight or
g.Height to a property, mRowHeight for example, then access the property.

Thank you Jack, that solves it.
It seems strange that there is no RowHeight prop since DefaultRowHeight is
no use in various circumstances.
What is strange is... to have to use a work-around to get this popular answer...
and this is not hard to implement...
