It's a Mac RB file without an extension. Not sure how you're seeing it as a Unix executable.
If you're on Windows, put .rb or .rbp at the end of the file and then try to open it. I've found that some older RB files will not open in RB on Windows, so you might need someone with a Mac open and resave the file as a newer version. Once opened in RB, you should add Self.Refresh at the end of the BuildBackdrop method to make it work properly on Windows.
