If you coding for the Mac, install the free Flip4Mac Player:

http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_compare.htm

It will install WMV codecs for QuickTime, i.e. any application that is based
on QuickTime (e.g. RealBasic's Movie Player) will be able to play WMV
files.
I've used it successfully in one of my projects.

Cheers,

Roger

PS: if you're on Windows, this is not going to work. And I'm not sure if
there are any such codecs available for Windows QuickTime.
