No idea about the answer to this but just an observation - from what
I've seen of Leopard it appears Apple is moving away from brushed
metal (never cared for it much myself).
If you make everything in your app brushed metal it could look old
fashioned very quickly, not comply with the 'system look' and
probably take you much, much longer to program because you'll have to
jump through hoops to do it.
not to discourage you though, just my observations.
