Thanks RBNUBE. I have been out of country for a week so have not been
able to respond. I found an old license key for 5.2.4 so went to the
FTP site and downloaded it. It opened the one file I tried and said
it was in 2.1 format so I saved it in the new format and reopened. It
has errors but that is a small problem, I can at least copy the logic
over to 2006 and then correct errors.

I'm betting they are 5.5.5 or older.
I have several 5.5.5 program that open
fine in 2005 but not in 2006 and give me
this same error. If I open and save in 2005,
make a small change, save then open with
2006 things seem to be ok

download an older demo and save out your older projects.
