I think what you want here is a BevelButton, on which you draw the
symbol, and in the attached menu, have both symbol and text.  This
should work on all platforms, I think.

That would take up entirely TOO MUCH SPACE.

Guys at REAL Soft. You need to FIX this aspect of Popup Menu behavior. I recommend a property that can turn on or off this egregious behavior.
