I am a member of the mailing list because I despise forums! This is not a welcome change in my book.
Let me elucidate why I don't like web-based forums. How do you like to receive your newspaper? Do you go to the store to pick it up, or have it delivered to your doorstep/mailbox? I have mine at the mailbox. I don't want to have to make a superfluous stop on the way to/from work. I want the content delivery folks put it where I need it.
I like news delivered to me (mailing lists). I hate having to go get it. How do I know when there is news worth reading? No way to know unless (a) it is delivered to me or (b) I go check. Give me (a) or give me death. Ok, a little extreme. But I guarantee that I will not join this forum, much as I have avoided them in other places. If Real Software proceeds with plans to dismantle this list, it will mean that I no longer have any good outlet for finding answers. I will either have to email them directly for an answer or go without. If I go without answers I will get frustrated and swap to a product with better support. These are the facts as I see them. No hate, no discontent, just reality. I hope my thoughts do not fall on deaf ears.
