I -made- it work.
glide2x on console works perfectly for me.  At least if I run in
640x480x16bpp :)  [okay, so I have to fix that requirement...]

I could relatively easily get glide3x to work as well, but since Mesa's
not designed to talk to glide3x I never saw the point.
