Hello Lee,

thank you for the contribution. I just wanted to read it in detail before I give
some comments. First, you (and anybody else) is welcome to write and submit any
articles that you think are missing on the KGI website.

Your article adresses two points:

1) Basic skills and hardware requirements to get involved with KGI (driver)
        development.

2) Driver structure and driver coding itself.

As far as I understand your article, it describes the 'old' KGI environment
and driver model that ships with ggi. The Sourceforge site is devoted to
its successor, KGI-0.9, which is quite different from that.

In order to keep the information on the KGI website useful as KGI develops,
I would like to have articles on 'orthogonal' subjects. So my suggestion
would be to split the article in three separate ones:

a) one that focuses _only_ on system and skills requirements and gives a
little introduction how/where to find more about the subject.

b) one that gives a detailed tour of the source tree, it's layout and
  configuration mechanism

c) one that describes how to develop drivers with the KGI-0.9 driver model.

As it stands, your article would be a bit confusing, as the old KGI code is
not available or referenced on the sourceforge site.

I have started with an outline of a similar article that addresses point c),
which is included with the KGI-0.9 tarball
(kgi-0.9/drv/display/doc/DisplayDDK.sgml).
There are some more documentation bits about point b) in there, but they are
rather outdated.

So, if you would like to enhance these documents, have a look, revise and update
the stuff I had put together, please go ahead, this work is needed and useful.
However, you would be 'required' to learn a little SGML/Docbook (see
http://www.docbook.org).

Let me know if you take it,

                        Steffen
