well, all there is to do, is decide the mode, create the visual, set two
environment variables, and start the child application. The last step, i.e.
the fork, is really nothing I'd want in an extension. Too much else might
vary in this step (such as setting up a pipe and redirecting the std[in, out, err]
etc. And the two environment variables really don't deserve an extension library...
