An overview is definitely what is needed there, yes.

These concepts aren't module-specific, they are all core, and I think 
one of the problems we are having is that they are not linked together in
one place quite right.  Despite LibGII being separate, I think we 
should subsume it under the LibGGI doc tree and just explicitly mention 
that a LibGII input need not have a visual or even LibGGI to work, so we can 
tree things this way:

 GGI visual
        display targets (opvis) overview
        renderers (opdraw, opcolor) overview                
        GII input, filter overview
        extensions overview
 Helpers
 Wrappers
 

...we would of course make links into lists of existing displays,
renderers, inputs, extensions jump forward to later chapters rather than
being right there in Chapter 2 e.g. "A list of existing display 
targets is in <link>this section</link>".

It's perplexing, because the GGI project isn't really a tree structure :-)
