libxmi speedometer.c demo

I've been messing arround with speedometer.c to do alpha tests - you can
find my version here:

I find it strange that when using alpha, many blended layers eventually
turn the image white.  Maybe I just don't understand how alpha works.  I
have yet to look at the actual blending code to see if it does alpha the
way I think it's supposed to work.
