If you are using a Geode-based PC the BIOS most likely contains VGA
emulation in software (using the System Management Mode of the Geode),
which probably is stepping all over the kgicon driver. If that's the
case there's unfortunately not much you can do about it, except get
the GX1 datasheet from National and do some serious hacking...
(Unless you can get a BIOS/bootloader without VGA emulation, but
if you don't have contacts at NS you're probably out of luck)
