Hi everybody!

A Happy New Year 2002!

2001 was a great year for GGI!

The years before 2001, GGI was believed to die. The old code warriors
dropped behind with writing code, because of lack of their time.

But then, the 'next generation' of code warriors came up and wrote more
code within a few month, than in the last years before!! Incredible!

They moved the sources to SourceForge and lots of new extensions arose -
libgalloc, libovl, libbuf, libblt, libvideo. Not to forget the new libs
libgpf and libbse.

To design them right was not that easy. And there are still some issues to
solve, but that shouldn't be too hard anymore.

They all are more or less in alpha-state.

And thanks to the great work of our webmaster, our GGI Homepage has gotten
a totally new layout, which is really very very eye-friendly and the GGI
documentation has been improved a lot.

And last but not least - the long awaited libggi 2.0 was released!

Let's see, what 2002 will bring to GGI! I hope, we can bring all the new
extensions up to beta state _and_ - last but not least - libggi 2.1!

I also hope, that the GGI team will grow! Code Warriors are highly wanted,
but a high number of developers sending patches from time to time are also
very welcome.

Sorry, that the GGI domain expired again. We had the same problem last
year, too.

Last year, we had trouble to get it working again, because time was
lacking for our domain maintainer.

This year, however, we have two volunteers, who wanna maintain our domain.
That arose the problem to coordinate, who resolves which DNS entry. But a
solution is in sight. I hope, that that problem will have been gone really
soon.

Happy New Year 2002,

Christoph Egger
