Just verified the chroot experiment. Referring to the buildlog in my 
previous message:

libgii is not built, because libgg is not found. You see every other 
Makefile has its xxx_la_LIBADD variable respected, it simply can not be 
seen in the gcc invocation for gii.

linux_evdev produces duplicate symbol warnings (uint16).

Eric Faurot wrote in other mail, he moved the manpages from 9 to 7. Are 
you comfortable that the .so links point to manXgii/... I still have to 
hack them then to point to manX instead o manXgii.

He also gave me some clues how to build the docs (thanks). Any 
objections against a debian 'libggi-doc' package from 'ggi-xml.tar.bz2'?

./configure requires g++, otherwise it breaks: g++ can't produce 
output, although it noticed before that no g++ is available.
