I think from your perspective, if you compile with the mutexes 
internally implemented you can close the bug.  Then when we fix
it upstream you'd stop compiling with that option.

It should be a simple fix, (except for figuring out how to adjust 
autoconf but that's never simple :-)  However, from a security perpective
(e.g. an suid GGI application) we need to know what the implications of 
calling dlopen on a symbol rather than an explicit filename on all
OSes, what information may take some time to gather unless there
happens to be a guru listening who can allay our fears.
